About the FlyOut

Bardstown Kentucky is the Bourbon Capital of the world. Located in north-central Kentucky about 35 miles south of Louisville and the Ohio River, it’s a great starting place to tour Bourbon Country. Rolling hills (we call them knobs and hollers) with a blend of farmland and forests make for a scenic flight into our home town.

We are hosting the USPA’s summer fly-in August 12 through 15 at the Bardstown (Samuels Field) airport. This event is open to all USPA members which include members of the Kentucky Pilots Association.

Activity Highlights

Bardstown is known as the Bourbon Capital of the World for good reason. Before prohibition there were hundreds of distilleries within 25 miles of Bardstown. The most famous of the early distillers including the Beam, Weller, Samuels, and Hayden families lived in Bardstown and their descendants still call it home. There are more than 10 million barrels of bourbon aging in the over 200 rickhouses surrounding our fair city. Naturally, our activities in Bardstown will involve this unique industry.

No penalty cancellation if made more than 24 hours prior to check-in.

Activity Costs

Bourbon tour $30 per person – Includes two distillery tours and bourbon tasting.

Museums and other attractions are available for those who do not wish to visit the distilleries at nominal cost.

Meals – Any meal other than Saturday breakfast and the banquet are not included and will be the responsibility of the participant.

Cancellation Deadline

We understand with small airplanes and the weather that plans may need to be flexible or change. With COVID-19 and personal situations you may also need to change your travel plans. You may cancel your registration for a full refund or credit towards another FlyOut if canceled before xxx, 2021. After xxx, 2021, the distillery tour activity is non-refundable. 

COVID-19 Information

COVID-19 has had different impact depending on where you are in the world. With current social distancing guidelines and local ordinances, participants may be required to wear a mask or face covering for indoor venues and any group activities where social distancing is not possible. Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing and frequent hand washing whenever possible. More information will be provided to registrants closer to the date of the FlyOut based on information we receive from local authorities and event venues.
